Many people have asked if Disc Tracker can sync with iTunes automatically.  The answer is no.  Apple has not exposed interfaces to allow developers to "sync" to the iTunes library.  Disc Tracker could sync to the music that was on your iPod at the current time, but what use would that be?  You already have all that information on your iPod.

In order to support you, my customers, I have created a simple Java tool that will allow you to load your iTunes library data into Disc Tracker.  iTunes does not store UPC codes (how could they?) so the automatic album cover loading will not work, but you will be able to load your iTunes library into Disc Tracker and carry it around with you.  The tool requires that a current version of Java is installed and you need to be running the latest version of iTunes.  After you run the utility, the tool will generate a CSV file for you suitable for import into Disc Tracker (see import Help for instructions) based on your iTunes library.  

Instructions

1. Download the Disc Tracker Import install tool into a convenient location. 
   • Windows - Download
   • Universal Executable JAR File - Download
2. If you're on Windows, run the install program.  This will install all necessary libraries and applications to run the tool and setup appropriate shortcuts to run the program for you. If you're on Mac or Linux, just unzip the file you just downloaded and locate the JAR file.
3. Run the tool. On Windows, application shortcuts have been created for you in the start menu. On Mac/Linux just double-click the JAR file.
4. For the iTunes Library source file, click Browse and search for iTunes Music Library.xml
   • This file is located in your iTunes library folder.  This is usually under the users' home directory in a folder called "iTunes"
5. Browse for a directory where you want the output CSV file to be created.
6. Click "Generate Import File".
7. The tool will automatically create a file called iTunesDiscTrackerImport.csv in the chosen location.
8. Open the CSV file with a simple text editor (TextPad) and verify the contents contain your data.
9. Upload the file to a chosen location (DropBox'x Public folder works well).
10. Use the Disc Tracker Import feature (under the Utilities tab) to import your data.
